What We Believe

The Bible

The scriptures are God’s divinely inspired words and therefore are our sole authority for life.

"All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness." - 2 Timothy 3:16

The Trinity

There is one God who co-exists in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The Trinity is equal in authority and nature, but they fulfill different roles.

"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit." - Matthew 28:19

Salvation

Salvation is the free gift of God for the redemption of man from the power and penalty of sin. Because of Jesus’ death and resurrection, salvation is offered to all who by faith accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

"If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." - Romans 10:9-10

The Holy Spirit & Spiritual Gifts

The Hoy Spirit

Every believer has the indwelling of the Holy Spirit at conversion. Every believer can also live a Spirit-filled and Spirit-empowered life when they allow the Holy Spirit to fill them. We believe ALL the gifts of the Holy Spirit are in operation in the church today, through the lives of believers.

"There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all." - 1 Corinthians 12:4-7

Spiritual Gifts

God created each of us differently and with various Spiritual Gifts that we are meant for us to discover, develop and deploy to bring glory to Him and for His service. At LifePoint it is our desire to help you explore and identify these gifts and help you use them for His glory.

"Now about spiritual gifts, brothers, I do not want you to be ignorant." - 1 Corinthians 12:1

How do we receive Spiritual Gifts?

• Accept Jesus Christ as Lord of your life.

• Acquire faith and truth in the area of spiritual gifts.

• Apply yourself to learning about spiritual gifts.

• Ask for the Lord to give you spiritual gifts.

Water Baptism

This is an important step of obedience following salvation. It is an opportunity for a Christian to publicly profess their faith in Christ.

"Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” - Acts 2:38

Communion

This is a practice that is meant to be observed over and over throughout the life of a Christian. It is a holy time of worship when we corporately come together as one body to remember and celebrate what Christ did for us.

"And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, “Take, eat; this is My body. Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins." - Matthew 26:26-28

Biblical Marriage

This is a covenant relationship between God, one man and one woman, for life. The scriptures limit the expression of human sexuality to a marital relationship between a man and a woman, which is the ONLY legitimate and acceptable Biblical relationship.

“Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.” - Genesis 2:24

Tithing

Committed followers of Christ tithe their income as a way of honoring God. We recognize that giving the first 10% of our income is the Biblical standard of giving. Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house.

"Test me in this, says the Lord Almighty, and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it." - Malachi 3:10

Church Governance

LifePoint Church is led by a lead pastor and staff under the guidance and covering of our Advisory Council.

Christ is the head of the church.

The Assemblies of God District provides safety and accountability.

The Lead Pastor leads the direction of leadership team that governs the day-to-day operation of LifePoint Church and is responsible for the LifePoint Church staff.

The Advisory Council Board of the church assists the lead pastor in areas needed and helps him fulfill the vision he has for the church.

The Staff and Volunteers execute the day-to-day operations of LifePoint Church.

Church Finances

Many people love to give to God, but they need to have confidence in the methods and purposes used by organizations to which they give. Therefore, we strive to honestly, and with integrity, reflect God’s heart with the resources people give to God.

A yearly audit of finances/accounting safeguards are in place for distribution of funds. The lead Pastor’s salary is set by the Advisory Council and the lead Pastor sets the salaries of the staff taking advice from the Advisory Council.

Church Membership

Church membership is a value we hold high at LifePoint Church. A Christian without a spiritual family is an orphan. We believe that it is God’s will that every Christian be connected and joined to a spiritual family.

What it Means to Be a Member

The difference between attendees and members can be summed up in one word: Commitment

  • An attendee is a consumer.
  • A member is a contributor.

What Is the Value of Membership?

  • It provides encouragement and blessing in your walk with Christ. "But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called "Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin's deceitfulness." - Hebrews 3:13
  • It gives you a place to discover, develop, and deploy God’s love and your gifts in ministry. "Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ." - 1 Corinthians 12:1
  • It places you under the spiritual protection and blessing of Godly leaders. "Obey those who rule over you, and be submissive, for they watch out for your souls, as those who must give account. Let them do so with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you." - Hebrews 3:17

Areas & Benefits of Giving

Areas of Giving

1. Give of our time.

"Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil." - Ephesians 5:15-16

2. Give of our talents.

"Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve

others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms." - 1 Peter 4:10

3. Give of our treasure.

"Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the best part of everything you produce." - Proverbs 3:9

Benefits of Giving

1. Giving draws us closer to God.

"Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." - Matthew 6:21

2. Giving is the remedy to materialism.

"Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to be generous and willing to share. In this way they may take hold of the life that is truly life." - 1 Timothy 6:17-19

3. Giving strengthens our faith.

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding... Honor the Lord by giving him the first part of your income, and he will fill your barns to overflowing." - Proverbs 3:5, 9-10

4. Giving is an investment in eternity.

"Give happily to those in need, and always be ready to share whatever God has given you. By doing this, you will be storing up real treasure for yourselves in heaven - it is the only safe investment for eternity!" - 1 Timothy 6:19-21
